Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

1. 20,000 dollars. Valuable because I need it to start.
2. Brice Maddock. CEO of Teen Challenge recovery center. Valuable because he has industry experience.
3. Carrie Smith. She owns many halfway houses locally. Valuable because she’s a mentor.
4. Brian Peddle, CEO of Salvation Army (thrift store). Valuable because we are able to help each other out. Inimitable as well.
5. Developer Bootcamp. Valuable as learning is an investment.
6. Customer Development. Valuable because without it, I will fail.
7. Donors as a customer segment. Valuable because that’s how this business will start up.
8. Volunteers. Valuable and rare. Not many people will work for free but the ones that do, believe in this business.
9. Conducting customer discovery interviews.  Valuable so I know what to do and what not to do in my startup business.
10. Pass/fail experiments.  Valuable so I know what doesn’t work.
My top resource is the money. Without it, I can’t use all my resources.

  1. Hi Kim,
Your blog post was very concise. Because you list your resources in an organized manner, the post is well-structured and easy to read. Listing social resources and then more tangible ones makes sense. You list money as your most important resource, a linchpin in the plan because the other resources cannot be accessed without funding. If this is the case, consider other resources that may not be so expensive, or consider ways to pay that will not cost so much money.

  2. Hi Kim, you did a great job on your post! I enjoyed reading about your firm’s capital and valuable assets. I admire the overall brevity of your post and concision of your explanations. It is very easy to identify what features you are focusing on and why they are important without having to read through an entire “rambley” paragraph. I like your idea of a Developer Bootcamp, that is very forward thinking and clever of you to get ahead of any issues or inconsistences with your developers by working with them to understand their routines & experiences first. Overall good job on your post and keep up the good work!

  3. Hi Kim!
Great job on this post, it was very brief but straight to the point so it was quite easy to understand exactly what your resources are for your business opportunity. I like how you included several individuals who would bring value to your idea, and who would also help you out. Keep it up!

  4. Hi Kim! This was a good your venture's unfair advantage post. It was very straight forward and fast to read (which was nice). I like how you got straight to the point. Although, I do still think a little bit more detail would've been good. Other than that though it was great overall. I think volunteers would be your most important because those are the people that will do it without getting paid and really do care about putting in all their effort and more. Great job!
