Reading Reflection No. 2

1)      What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The book I chose was “Miracles Happen” by Mary Kay Ash. She lends her life experiences to offer guidance for anyone who wishes to succeed.
2)      How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
That no matter the struggles that may come our way, we can do it anyway. We don’t give up.
3)      If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
The exercise would be to stop judging people. Every time someone does something that would make me want to judge them, tell myself to think something positive about them instead.
4)      What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
“I believe that public recognition is the finest form of praise” (page 157).

  1. Hi Kim,
You did a great job analyzing the book you chose to read. While I elected to read a different piece, you do a great job of conveying the message and tone of the writing. While I agree with your selection of a theoretical assignment, I feel that the assignment may be too broad and unmeasurable. Having a student select five things they regret judging about important people in their lives when they first met could be a more productive and insightful assignment based on what you gleaned from the reading.

  2. Hello Kim, you did a really good job on your second reading reflection assignment. You did a great job explaining how the book can relate to this class, never give up! That is a very interesting assignment that really would help a lot of people stop judging so much. I like that you embedded a quote for your biggest aha moment. Keep up the great work.

  3. Hey Kim, I liked how simple your post was yet it was extremely effective in getting your point across. I know of Mary Kay Ash but had never read any of her books before. Your summary gave me a glimpse of what the book is all about and now I'm inclined to read it! Overall, keep up the great work.
