Idea Napkin No. 2

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?

My name is Kimberly Palo. I’m a combined degree student at the University of Florida majoring in Telecommunication and hoping to be accepted into the Master’s program for the Social Media track MAMC. My talent is my charisma, my social presence, my communication skill, my ability to get along with others. My talent is changing other people’s minds. This business will play a role in my life because I am a recovering addict with 3 years and 8 months clean. So, I know firsthand what addicts are struggling with, and I can help them.

2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).

With our workplace drug abuse awareness training program, businesses can finally solve this problem!

What makes our services different than other workplace programs is that we offer free counseling available for ANY issue employees may face. We also offer free a 1-2 week inpatient detox for those who need medical assistance to get off drugs. Our educational program also includes live training, web training, online training, prescription drug take-back event, outside speakers, substance abuse resources, & drug testing for all employees.

3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?

Many businesses are having a hard time finding employees because the fact that many workers can’t even pass a drug test. These issues are found anywhere from the restaurant industry to the corporate world. We are offering this to those businesses so they can offer to their employees our services. The customers all have in common is that that they work for the business and they are colleagues with one another. Also, addiction affects many people, it’s not just a few.

4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
The goal of our program is to prevent a relapse, increase motivation in their lives, & change self-defeating behaviors. Businesses who don’t offer these services to their employees are only hurting themselves. Many businesses don’t know if it’s worth the cost. But did you know that drug abuse costs the United States economy 20 billion in lost productivity? Businesses should hire our exclusive all-inclusive training program. The cost of our program would depend on the amount of employees. The result of our program will help decrease work related accidents once you’ve run our program for at least a year.

5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?

What makes our services different than other workplace programs is that we offer free counseling available for ANY issue employees may face. We also offer free a 1-2 week inpatient detox for those who need medical assistance to get off drugs. I don’t know any other workplace prevention program that offers these services!

I believe these elements fit together perfectly. Each part was necessary to make this a successful business. The feedback I received was to elaborate more on why they care. I added some statistics to better persuade my potential customer. The other point was that I am offering something different than other businesses that includes detox. This sets my business apart from others.
